Others have strong guarding and territorial instincts. These are just some of the attributes that make one breed of dog a better choice for a specific person than another. When choosing a breed you have to decide what you could offer the dog, e.g. have I a big enough garden and how much time have I got to spend with the dogs? How will it affect other animals living in the house? What are your work commitments; can you afford to feed a large dog and vet bills can be expensive. Go to breed shows and read books on the breed, go to a breeder’s home to see the dogs relaxing at home; meet as many Bullmastiffs as you can. If you do your research you will be rewarded with the knowledge that you can take this loving and some times stubborn companion into your home.
